The institution is the national public tertiary education provider for the country. SICHE comprises of eight academic schools, including the School of Industrial Development (SID). SID offers regular and short-term training programmes to students, apprentices and teachers in Marine Engineering, Building Studies, Plumbing and Allied Trades, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering and Surveying. Other schools include: the School of Marine and Fisheries Studies; School of Education (Teacher Training); School of Finance and Administration; School of Nursing and Health Studies; School of Natural Resources; School of Humanities and Sciences (non-TVET).
